Three courses traveled to Greece during the Interim to study this country’s central role in the evolution of Western culture: its art, architecture, literature, and theatre. The students will talk about their time exploring Athens, Corinth, and the island of Rhodes. In Athens they visited the Acropolis, the Parthenon, Theatre Dionysius, Ancient Agora, the New and the Old Acropolis Museums, as well as the famed National Archaeological Museum. In Corinth, the ancient healing center at the Sanctuary of Asclepius at Epidaurus, they saw one of the world’s best-preserved theaters, Ancient Olympia, venue of the Olympic Games, and Ancient Delphi, site of the famous oracle. They then flew to the island of Rhodes, termed “jewel in the Dodecanese crown,” with a tour of the Old Town, including the Palace of Grand Masters built by the medieval Knights of Saint John.
